Lazy Days of Summer ...not...beginning the make-over

I am sorry that I can not find the before pictures. I am sure that we took pictures of my dd room the last time, which would have been in 2006. But many of you said you would like to see what we are up to so here is the beginning of the make-over. The walls are a very dark purple and the molding at the top is a light gray (sterling). We just installed the chair rail two nights ago and it is sterling also. The paint is a satin finish but with the flash it looks pretty shiny..really it isn't. You can also see the yucky carpeting. I am not sure who would have chosen ait but  we are getting rid of it!
This is what we found under the carpet. This is the way it was done with old houses. They would refinish the edges and not the center. Then there would be a large area rug in the middle. But truly, it would not be that much more work to just stain and varnish all if it but since they didn't we will be renting the sander.
I am hoping that we can sand the floor tomorrow evening (depending on dh schedule of course).
I am excited about having the room start to take a little shape. We did hang the new light but I forgot to take a picture of it. Again, she is decorating with purple, gray, silver and white. We have been painting the furniture and looking for the new bedding. I do love the chair rail in this room it gives it a little character. My mother is coming to see what we have done...wonder what she will think?
I have been doing a little stitching on my CaHRH and will share some pictures tomorrow.  (PS.. lights are on clearance at Lowes!)

This is a great color...purple and the lavenders are my DD favorites, she would love this. I like the additon of the chair rail and what wonderful floors...older homes have such character. I bet your daughter is really looking forward to her new room....hugs, Linda

Purple and sterling...nice combination, Dianntha! Can't wait to see how the floor turns out.

WOW!!!! That is a dark purple. My parents would have never let me do that. LOL.

In one of my old houses the floors were the same way. I always figured that the rug was in the middle of the room.
