A new scarecrow man

Well, sorry it has been a little while since my last post but I have been busy with things that just aren't that interesting. The girls keep me busy with lesson and just plain stuff...teenager stuff...
I have been wanting to try my hand at making this scarecrow for my door so yesterday I started him and today..well he is almost done. he needs a couple of buttons but other than that he is finished. It sure was a lot of gluing ..I do like him but now I'm not sure where I will hang him. For now he is right beside me at the computer.
The days are still pretty warm here and I am ready for a break for all the a/c. We are planning on having a new roof put on the house but boy...what expense that will be.
We are a few weeks for getting our new puppy but we are all excited..even our oldest has started to take an interest. It has been so tough on her to lose her pet so I am hoping that this will begin a new chapter of happy memories.
By the way, the pattern for the scarecrow is from Need'l Love. Be blessed.

Our new baby...

Well..this is our new baby! She is too tiny to be with us yet but we are counting the days until we can pick her up. Our family has been so sad with the lose of Jackie that it was an easy decision to find another puppy to live with us. We have not decided on names as of yet...I think we will have to meet her first but it has been fun trying to come up with some new names.
We are sweltering in this heat and I am so ready for cooler days. i feel so sorry for all the kids that went back to school today...our streets are like a ghost town and I so dislike this time of year..
I have not made anything this week, I have just been too busy with..well..stuff..you know what I mean.
I am heading out in a few minutes so I will close for now. be blessed.

Black cats and gingerbread men

This is the project I was working on...it is quick and easy. it is by Need'l love and it is so adorable. i do think I am going to work on the eyes a little bit. that is a 5 by 7 frame..so you can judge the size of it. I think Mom and I are going to work on a scare crow soon...Hope it is just as easy.

I found 2 bags of these little gingerbread boys...they will be so cute on the tree in my kitchen!!

Found this gingerbread angel on the 60% off rack and didn't want to pass her up...so she now lives in my kitchen.

It has been so hot here...so how could the pool be so cold??? When I got in today I was freezing...so I sat in the sun and read a book for a little while but with 3 teens here there is no peace and quiet..always somewhere to go. I wouldnt have it any other way. Blessings

Way too hot...

It is so hot here...upper 90's and truly...I feel trapped in the house. I have to stay in when it is that hot because I can't breathe when it is that hot. So to amuse myself today I was thinking of how cold it was last winter. At 14 degrees below zero...boy was I complaining...lol So I am thinkful that it isn't that cold.
Mom and I went to her final doctors' appointment and then on to shopping. I found some great stuff for 60% off. i will share those pictures tomorrow. Mom and I are going to start a fall project that I am excitied about and I will take pictures in stages for that too.
I am working on a fall black cat...primitive, of course, wool and such...we will see how it turns out.
In some other news..well..we are having a little surprise around here in about 3-4 weeks. Cant say what just yet but I am nervous and excited...and I will leave it at that.
Also...my dad is at his projects again..wait till you see what he is doing now...that starts tomorrow...until then, be blessed.

Abe Lincoln...speaks....

A quote by Abe Linclon.....(are we listening?)

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man’s initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

Eric Slone in The Spirits of 1976

I was visiting http://thistledewmercantileblog.wordpress.com/ and I thought that this was so profound that it needed to be repeated....what are we doing??
I do not need the government to take over my health care decisions...but if they do..then let them be the first to sign up.

A fall project

Finally got a chance to work on a small project. Seems like I have been busy but not doing anything fun!!
I found this little pattern at Good Wives Co. and knew it was something I would enjoy making. I am thinking of putting up some sort of a fall tree..not sure just what that will be but this little tags would look good hanging on it.I have a few ideas about adding to this pile of little tags. I know there are so many wonderful craft ideas for fall right now...I love reading all your blogs. Blessings
