Down with the old!!!

These were some of the lights that have been hanging in my kitchen since we bought this house. I almost never use them and they are a big pain to keep clean. Last week I convinced dh to take them down and patch the holes so I can paint the kitchen ceiling. It makes the room look bigger just getting them taken down.
He thinks he is going to use them in is new building, I say good ridence! After I paint the ceiling I will show you the new lights and maybe some paint ideas.
I have a kitchen that I decorate with gingerbread men so if you have any suggestions on pain color...speak now! Until then, Be blessed

Fall comes to the front porch..finally

Well, I have been so busy that I haven't even decorated my porch until today. My girls want me to put pumpkins on the other side of the porch steps so I will probably do that tomorrow. I started to decorate the back porch too but it doesn't look that great so I won't share pics of that until I finish it.
We continue to work on the garden shed and my dh's building but my guess is you are getting tired of seeing those pics so I will spare you those until it really is finished. We are working on the landscaping right now...not actual plants but moving dirt and stone. Not too exciting but it really makes a difference in looks.
I have more decorating to do but really I am just too tired today so I think I will just visit some of you and see what you are up to...until then be blessed.

Do you like the color?

Well..it has been a while since I have had time to post anything. Hope you all are well. We have been having wonderful, beautiful weather so I have been working outside. Last Thursday I somehow hurt my hip so I have been a little slow the last few days..including today...but hopefully it will be better tomorrow.
While I was feeling better my mother and I painted the french doors that lead into my garden shed. So, what do you think? I really wanted them to be red but to keep with the colors of our home green was the right choice. We still have a few more things to add to the front but I thought you might want to see the colors I had chosen.
I really want to be working on a few project but for now I am resting my hip in hopes that tomorrow brings less pain! LOL Until then, be blessed.

Small pumpkin harvest

This is the small crop of pumpkins we grew this year. Do you remember the crop we had last year? Well, with no rain for the last few months I am very happy that we have any this year. I hope all our customers from last year will not be too sad but next year we will try again.

At the lessig household it seems that you can't just work on one project but you must get ready for the next project at the same time...so as you can see our new windows for our home have arrived. What you are seeing is 12 new windows for the downstairs of our home. We still have 7 more on the back porch then we can get the ones for the uspstairs....looks like a lot of work to me. Dh thought he was going to sit each window in the house infront of the one that it replaces...huh...no..twelve windows in my way all day long...no thanks. The garage will work just fine. LOL

Have a good Friday!

more touches of fall

To all those people who lost loved ones on 911... These brave people will never be forgotten. I know I had a knot in my stomach this morning when I was thinking about all the children who lost parents and others who lost spouses that day....you are in my prayers.

This is a quilt wall hanging that I made a few years ago and I finally got it out of the fall decorations and onto the wall. It is hanging in our computer/family room. There is a china cabinet on the right and a window on the left.

I have quite a large space about out television and I always am looking for something to fill in the gaps so when I found this old crock jug at an auction recently I decided to put a few sunflowers in it and make it useful again. I actually had the jug in my flower garden this summer...but it looks better in the livingroom where I can enjoy it.

I wanted to share another pic of dh at the fair...the last one wasn't really that good and I wanted you to see how handsome he is...LOL We did have a lovely time afterwards.

County Fair in full swing

This is the wagon filled with all the baked goods to be auctioned off by dh.

Well, last night we went to the county fair and the weather we absolutely wonderful. It was nice and cool and crisp. We did see many people that we hadn't seen in quite a while so that was fun too. When we first got the the fair it was time for the cake and pie auction. My dh was the auctioneer for this even this year. After about an hour and a half of selling, we were done for the evening. Some of the cakes and pies went for $65...they were some cakes let me tell you!
I think that dh is going to go back to the fair tomorrow but for me one day is enough so I will skip it this time. I spent much of the day shopping for homecoming dresses for the girls but we had great luck and they were on sale...as were the shoes. So now that task is completed!!!yeah.
Do you ever have so many jobs to do that you don't know were to start? I sat down and made a list of the outside and inside chores and well...tomorrow I don't know where I will start! Maybe making a list isn't such a good idea.
Well, until next time, be blessed.

A few more fall decorations are up....

This is kinda a close up of a cross stitch design that I have hanging in my computer room. It is a Fanci That design...I love their stuff. I love how simple yet cute they are...I may reframe her this year....if I have time.LOL

A few years ago my mother and I started stuffing leaves...many leaves. LOL
We started making wreathes for fall and this is the one I kept. It is hanging in my computer room between two windows. It it is one of my favorite decorations.

I made this primitive wall hanging a few years ago and I still love it. It was from a Need'l Love pattern. It was quick and simple and a nice addition to my fall decorations. I would love to be working on some new projects right now but lifw seems to be getting in the way for now. I am still working on my cross stitch project but not as much as before. With the weather starting to cool down I am hoping to have more time for "fun."
Well, I have spent enough time already this morning and we have a big day ahead of us so until next time, be blessed.

Fall soap dispenser....

Today was a long day...so many things to do and a trip to the state capital and finally home at 9pm. I would love to spend the day at home but for today it just wasn't a choice. I did put up some more decorations but this is the only picture that i could get to load tonight so I will try again tomorrow.
Also our county fair starts tomorrow and my dh is doing the cake and pie auction so I will post tomorrow about all those happenings too.

This is a little soap dispenser I placed in the bathroom today. I just loved this little pumpkin when I found it last year at Bath and Body Works. I found the orange soap at a local drug store today and I think it turned out so cute.

Fall mantle decorations

Well, yesterday I spent about 12 hours working on my dh new building. We were having 120 tons of store delivered. It sure has been a lot of work but we are one step closer to finishing this project. But it has been so hot and humid here that on Wednesday I took so time to stay inside and work on my fall mantle. It was fun to see something new (well actually old) on the mantle. I normally put up much more that you are seeing but a lot of my stuff is actually Thanksgiving so I didn't put it out because I know that it is too early for those decorations!
I took a close up of this stitchery I bought a few years ago...I love what it says so I put it up right away and will begin to enjoy it until the Christmas decorations go up. Well...I wll be around for a visit! Until then, Be blessed.

Out with the old and here are the new!

I thought you might want to see what we have been working on. Well, really they have been done for a few nights but I just haven't made it to the computer. DH also hung the new garage door on my garden shed now we are ready for the opener and then it will be complete.

These are the old lights that we are replacing now that the painting has been completed. These are the lights that have been beside our front door every since we bought the house. I'm not sure why we have left them for so long but when I saw the lighting selections at Lowes I knew that our old lights were history. The center light looked just light this but I wasn't able to get all three in the same picture.

These are the new lights that I found at our Lowes store. I did have to special order the hanging light but the other two were on clearance so I got them for less than half price. I also purchased a set for each of our buildings because I loved them so much. Enjoy your evening and be blessed.
