Thomas progress

Hey there Ladies,
I wanted to show the progress on Thomas. I am working on his tail feathers right now. I haven't had much time to stitch so there is not a lot of progress. Once this is done I will turn my attention to CaHRH and finish the first block. I have made some progress on it but I forgot to take a picture.
So far the laundry is done, lunch is cooking and the trash is taking out...ok...now what to do next.
I have an apartment that needs to be cleaned but with the flooring being installed they had to shut the water off so none of that today! Yea!
I do have a little more painting to do at that apartment tomorrow so we will see.

Have you ever been to a program that was very disorganized??? Well last night I went to one that well...was terrible. It started 40 minutes late and spent the first 30 minutes thanking every person by name. Now this was a church thing with a lot of volunteers and I truly believe that if you are working there for the right reasons then there would be no reward in being recognized for everything you do! Now to give a general thank you should have been enough to cover it. I do many things at the church...and I truly believe that there should be no need to constantly thank me...as if it is the praise that keeps me going. It is nice to be told thank you but really...for the first 30 minutes>>>>oh my. It was to be over at 6pm (it was to start at 4:30) and it ended at 8*pm...it was so hot...I could feel my asthma starting to flare. I wanted to be there because my dd was going to be part of the actual ceremony but really....I guess as a teacher I do not find this acceptable. There has to be a better way....lol
OK...so much for my complaining!
I still have my snowmen out but I am thinking about putting them away. I have much to do before the graduation party! I am trying to talk my dh into painting my kitchen cabinets...oh...I would love to paint them. He sees the oak and says...no way...but I am still trying...it would be cheaper than new ones right? lol Don't get me wrong my cabinets are very nice it is just that I don't care for them...oh well..we will see what happens with that.
Well, I have lists to make and tasks to tackle...so until next time, be blessed.

The Carinals have landed!

In this one the star is a little higher...and a different angle.

I think this is the best shot but it isn't a very good one...but you can get the idea. I wanted to get it hung while the step stool was here...lol I am not sure about the other stuff on the shelf but for now it will do. I like the star but I am not sure about the placement but I know my sister will be here to boss me around about it soon so we will she what she says about it. lol The star is a little lower too.

Without the flash...just too dark but the wall color is better...it really is a moss green but I know you just can't really tell that.

Well, at least the cardinals have found a place on the wall to hang!
I tried my best to get a decent picture but it is so dreary that I had to use the flash and then you can't really see the true colors but at least you can see kinda what it looks like so far.

I have been working on my closet and I am happy to report that my big walk in closet is pretty much done for now. It has three doorways and a window to work around and I would love to someday turn it into another bathroom so for now I will deal with it as is. I am thinking of adding some storage units to it...we will see what dh has to say about that..
I have a few other things that are calling to me...like my tom turkey I am working on and I have another idea for a wool wall hanging for the other room. But for today I will try to visit some of you. Until next time...be blessed.

If it has been a while since you have read the history of the Colonist and the Revolutionary War...get a book from the Library and read it again. I am afraid we have forgotten where we came from...and where we might be going!!!

A new start, a WIP and a few cardinals too

And yes, you can see that there is a bloom coming very soon. Can you believe how fast it has grown from the last post. I don't remember what color it is suppose to be so I will be just as surprised as you are when it does bloom.

This is my new start by Notforgotten Farm. I love this Tom Turkey. I adore the season of Thanksgiving and I guess he just reminds me of our history and how were first began as a nation. Anyways, he seems to be an easy stitch, if you get a chance check out some of her other designs, they are pretty cute.

This is all I have done on Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow and I discovered I am missing a color...I thought I had purchased everything I needed but of course not. I have not spent much time on it but I am hoping to work on it today. I am ready to start working on it to get the first block completed.

My cardinals are done!!! I love the way they turned out. This is not where I am going to put them but I didn't have my step stool. It is at one of the apartments so I can't reach up to hang it but when I do I will post another picture. I love the designs in the pattern book from Karla Menaugh and Barbara Brackman called Juniper and Mistletoe. If you get a chance check them out. I will be working on more of their designs very soon.
The weather has been above freezing the last few days so much of the snow is melted and very dirty looking. I hope it all melts for now. It is cloudy and dismal outside but warm and toasty inside so I am off the grill some burgers for lunch and then I am going to relax for a bit with a needle and floss in my hand. Enjoy your Sunday!! Be blessed.

A finish and a sneak peek...

I thought I would keep you updated on my amaryllis...it has grown so much and you can start taking shape...it has been fun.
It has been very cold here with the highs in the teens most days. Today it felt like a heat wave when I got to be twenty degrees.
I must admit that I have not spent any time on closets so far this week. I have been working on the projects that you will see and I have been doing a little decorating too. Since we have our middle child graduating this year I will have to make a to do list and stick to it soon!!!

Yes, I did finish this project. I have not decided if I should tea stain it or not. I have never tea stained a cross stitch design and after working on it I sure don't want to do something stupid but then again it might be a chance for something new. What do you think?

This is one of the new projects I am working on. I wish I had taken pictures of the steps but it is too late for that. I am just about done with it and hope to have pictures of it yet his week. When I started this pattern I had in mind where I was doing to put it...but today as I was redecorating a shelf well...there might be a better place for it...Maybe I will show you both spots and let you decide.

Hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek...I do enjoy reading your comments!!! Until next time..be blessed.

Two of my stitching projects...

I planted this Christmas flower right after Christmas...I thought it might be fun to enjoy it after all the rush was done. In the past sometimes it grows so quickly I will keep you posted as it grows.
Now on to the patterns I am working on. I have another one that I have started that I want to finish this year but these are the two I am actively stitching on.

This pattern is Parson Brown by Notforgotten Farm. I love stitching snowmen while we have snow. We are actually going to be getting a snow storm today...about 5-6 inches I think...I might get a lot of stitching done if that happens.

This is Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow and I have been so excited about starting this one. The blocks are very large and that is just what I was looking for...I have a spot already picked out for this one.

Well. I am off to do a few errands and then I will return to start stitching...and a little cooking too. Hmmm..maybe a pizza instead! Be Blessed.

Finding Joy....

Today I have been working on finishing up the Christmas decorations...boxing and carrying them to the basement. While I was doing that I was thinking about the word joy....Joy...such a simply beautiful word.
I often pray for joy and in the quiet or while I am peacefully taking a walk I often find joy in such odd places. Somethings a memory, sometimes in nature and sometimes in something one of the girls have just said. I think you can spend your life seeking joy or you can spend your life grumbling. I am choosing joy...every time. Sometimes joy is a warm, cozy feeling...and sometimes it is full of life and laughter. I pray that you find a joy that warms your soul.
I will be back tomorrow with some pictures of the cross stitching I am working on. Until then, be blessed.

A Little Rant about Re-gifting!

The weather has been frightful. It has been so very cold here the last few days. I did go out and shovel the garage area to get my cardio today...thank goodness there was not any wind.
January is always my least favorite time of the year. I am always sad when I take down the Christmas decor. I guess I get to thinking about all the fun we had and all the time the kids were here together and well it just makes me sad that they are back to college and such. Yesterday and today I slowly started to put the decorations away for another year...or 10 months...but my home looks so drab that I am wondering how I will decorate once all the decorations are gone.
I did have another thought about re-gifting. I know that our society has started to make re-gifting into a little joke...but I honestly think it is just bad manners.
If someone gives you a gift they obviously spent time and money. I think it is just bad manners to turn around and give it to someone else. I know there are exceptions to every rule...if you really don't have the money to buy or make someone a present then maybe you are the exception. But let's be honest, is that the case or is it because you "can get away with it?" I know that I spend time and energy on the gifts I choose and I would be really disappointed if it was re-gifted because that person thought it would be fun or funny to give it to another.
Let's start using some manners before we become a society that has no social rules. I am amazed at how little time it takes to be polite...please try it.
I have not started cleaning the closet just yet but I will let you know when I do.
Be Blessed.

January work list...and new projects

Seems like I have been so busy. I have been reading a lot of your blogs and I have been trying to decided where to start this year. I usually don't take down my Christmas decorations until the kids start back into their home schooling and the oldest goes back to college. That being said, I am still basking in the glow of Christmas and have not intentions of rushing the season!
The Santa and reindeer above were a gift from my sister and they looks so settled next to mt star light....I am enjoying them for a few more days.
Even though we are still enjoying Christmas, I have been thinking about what my next projects will be...well..I did start Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow. I am working on block one but honestly the symbols on the chart are difficult to read. I even had my kids try to read what they are and we used a magnifying glass too...lol I have never done that before but I am really having trouble with it. I was so excited about starting this design so that does make me frustrated so tomorrow I am going to enlarge the chart to see it that will solve the issues I am having...wish me luck with that.
As far as other projects...well...first I am going to organize the basement before I put the decorations away. Then all the decorations will come down...that's when the real work will begin!!
Since our daughter is graduating this year I am going to start cleaning the closets. Yes, the closets first so I will have a place to put "things" as I clean and organize.Soooo.... January is for closets.... I have 8 in the house and that is where I will begin!
I will try to post pictures as I go...I do hope I remember to do that because sometimes I get is such a hurry that I forget...but I will try!!!
I don't make any resolutions for New Years since it really seem pointless to me. I make lists and work from them as best I can...but some of the resolutions I have been reading are very interesting. I do wish you luck with that.
For now I should go because I have 8 very loud teens in my living room..eating pizza and watching movies and I guess I had better keep an eye on them....until next time be blessed.
