Christmas In the Foyer!

Well, Dear Friends, let's take a look at the foyer. I usually put a tree in this area but for some reason I am not going to this year. This is the site you see when you walk in our front door. I walls are a light gray and the decorations are red with a santa with a long beard.

If you are standing in the dining room looking into the foyer this  is what you see..to the left is the front door. The painting was done by my Mother. The santa rug was a gift from my dh many years ago. It fits perfectly in this area. I am going with a more simple look this year!

In the corner at the base of the steps is a snowman lighting the steps.

The foyer is very large but the rug makes it seem more homey for sure.

And now the view going into the dining room that you saw in yesterdays post. To your right I have pocket doors that lead to the living room but the tree is in front of them so they are closed. You will get a chance to see them when I show you the living room.
Today I just have to finish the front porch. I tell you I am not looking forward to that...I am having trouble with inspiration...oh my...I wish I could make some decisions and just finish it...thanks for stopping by today!

Christmas in My Dining Room

Well, I believe all the decorating is done for now. I did not decorate upstairs this year but I think I have done enough downstairs to make up for it!
I wanted to share pictures of my dining room today...hope you enjoy the tour.
I am sorry that the pictures are out of order but I am loading from my iphone and I don't know how to rearrange...so bare with me!
This is a Cat's Meow Nativity that I found in Amish country. I just love it.
If you are standing in my living room this is the view you would have. To the left is the white Christmas cabinet and the left the cabinet with the bottle brush trees that I showed in another post.

This is the full picture of the stand with the Cat's Meow. Again sorry they are out of order.

I am not sure I ever did show the china cabinet. This is original to the house and full of dishes...I a have a thing for dishes! Above is the Avon  Christmas dishes. Each year my Mom would give each of us one of these plate, the year they stopped making them was the year my Mom was sick..They make me smile and cry...I miss her so!

A closer view of the little house I found. It makes for a nice centerpiece with a bottle brush tree and a sheep.

Now this is the view if you are standing in my kitchen...the living room is on the left, the foyer is straight ahead (that is the front door). I made the holly garland last year and had a tutorial on it also. There are close ups of the cabinet if you go back a few days.

Oh how I love silver pieces. I use them everywhere...My sister bought much of this set for me and my children bought the rest!  I am enjoying the dining room today. It is bright and sunny but at night is it so beautiful with just a few lights glowing. If you look close you can see my Mom's china in my cabinet! Merry Christmas!!!!! Next...umm..maybe the foyer!

Snow

This is the beautiful site we woke up to this morning. It was a little chilly but so pretty.
I think I have finished almost all of my decorating in our home but I still need a few finishing touches on our front porch.
I can't wait to share each room with you...I am happy with the way it has turned out. I know you are so busy. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanksgiving Blessings

May you have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving. We are celebrating with family and friends. Without my parents it feels a little empty but I know that my children and I need things to be as normal as possible so we continue on with my parents in our spirit and thankfulness in our hearts. Blessings to each of you!

Shopping Your Own Home!

I went to an auction last weekend and found this beautiful bed. I can see it being painted white after the holidays but for now I decided just to set it up. The problem was I didn't have anything else in the room. So today I decided to start looking in every room for pieced of furniture I could take from different rooms and make it look like a real bedroom. I found a lamp in the basement..a chair, clock and comforter set in my room. The candlesticks were in my room as well as the quilt on the chair.
Sine the comforter set was green and purple there was no need to paint. I didn't get a very good picture of that. I had this large picture hanging downstairs. The table and white bookcase were in my shed. The rocking chair was in my foyer and the tree was my Mother's and it was in the garage. So far there has not been a need to buy anything other than the bed. I still have one more piece of furniture but I couldn't move it myself and then I will purchase a rug or two.  This room is furnished and the other rooms are still just fine...what can I say? Maybe I have too much furniture in my home? Well, all I can say is I am happy with it so far. I will try to get better pictures after I move a few things around.

Oh Christmas tree.....

Thought you might like to get a look at my bird cage...it makes me smile!
Last year I picked up a white tree at Lowes for a ridiculous price...then I forgot I had it. So I was happy to find it and like it!
I put alittle fluff in the branches then the ornaments. I am not sure about the red and gold but it matches the rest of the room!

Vintage Ornaments!

Thought I would show you what I was up to today! I am working on some vintage ornaments. This is my first try so I know they will get better but not too bad for working on my own! I am linking up with Home Stories

I purchased the center parts from Walmart but when I have time I will make some of my own designs.

They did turn out pretty cute!

New Home for the White Cabinet!

Well, since I moved the red hutch into the living room I had to find a new place for the sellers cabinet. I moved a few things in the dining room and made room for it there! This is the new decorations for this cabinet!
I just love my new sign. I knew when I saw it that I could find a place for it!
And a little ornament that I found at Kohls!
A new little sheep found it's way into the cabinet too!
This cabinet is a little more peaceful than the red..but then the red makes a big color statement in the room!
I just love the little chandy...it makes things seem romantic!

New furniture in Red

Well, I spent all summer taking all the color out of my living room and then what do I do? I put a red cabinet back in the corner. But who could resist this little red cutie? I knew when I saw her that she would be mine. I decided for Christmas she could stay in the living room but then it will be moved upstairs to our spare room.
I didn't have any more lights for the bottom shelf but I promised you a picture and I was excited for you to see it! I still have garland to add to the top and more lights but I will show you another picture then too.
This is the before picture. I moved this cabinet into the dining room and I will show you a picture of it tomorrow!

Using Decorations that you Already Have...

Well, I am working on rearranging my furniture. I think it will make it fresh and different for the Holidays. My dh helped me bring two pieces in from the shed and I have been like crazy to make it all work. I guess all I needed was more furniture, right?
I think I want to use my tea set in one of my displays.  I love that it looks homey and yet glitzy too! But for today I am just thinking that it would be nice to get everything in place. So tomorrow I will post pics of the new furniture and a few decorations!
I am so thankful for all of you!
