New lighting

kitchen light

I know, I know..I am suppose to be working on my dd bedroom but the floor still has 48 hours to dry so why not start a new small project. Remember when I told you the lights were on sell at Lowes. Yep, I had to get one for our own home. We had been picking up a few for our rentals when I spied this one. It was originally $240 marked down $119 but I got it for $30 on final clearance.  I really didn't need a new light but at the price I was not going to pass it up.
I have been stitching a little while I am waiting for the floor to dry as well as the usual cleaning, laundry and mowing. I think it has been a little boring here. I did cool down for a few days but today is back to the 90's..we are hoping for better weather the next few days. I talked to a friend that said she walked  3-4 miles a day everyday. Now that is dedication. I do walk about 3-4 days a week but not everyday and not for  that many miles. I could be considered a slacker or something!!!lol
 Thanks for the visit!

Sanding and staining complete...makeover continues!

Well, the sanding is complete...the staining is done...and it was a lot of work. I decided on red oak stain mainly because it matches the stairs at the end of the hallway and eventually when the hallway carpet is gone it will match seamlessly!  There is dust to be swept and a little more staining to complete. There are a few areas that I believe I am going to apply another coat just to darken a little but other than that my staining is done. but it did dawn on me that my daughter needed to learn how to remove the corner varnish and to stain so I did not complete the closest. I thought this would give her a chance to learn the process...is she thrilled no...but isn't that our job as parents to allow our children to learn how to do things for themselves???( home school mom speaking)
I would love to put a coat of poly on today but alas it is Sunday and I am going to rest!!!
I have to say that my behind is sore from sitting on that floor staining...sore to the bone...lol I guess I don't have as much padding back there as I thought!
Tomorrow morning I will poly and another coat in the afternoon...if all goes well the final two coats will go on Tuesday. By the end of next week we should be full stream ahead...on to another project. I will keep you updated on this!!!!

Floor sanding begins today!

Now who wouldn't want floors like this one? Today is the day we are going to sand dd bedroom floor. I am going to go rent the drum sander today and dh will start the process. Once the sanding is complete I will stain it and then put a finish on it.  I am planning on trying to stain it about the color of the woodwork in that room. Today is suppose to be extremely  hot outside so I guess we will spend the afternoon working inside. I am ready to get this process going so we can put the upstairs back together..as you can tell...I can not stand the mess.
Once we get going I will snap a few pictures so you can see. I will try to post a picture of the floors we refinished at our rental, it turned out really super too.
Well, when time permits I will be around to visit. Be Blessed.

A finish and C@hrh

Joy to All Poppy Kreations
Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow block 6

I wanted to show the little bit of stitching that I did get done on CaHRH..I actually have the third person done too but I took the picture earlier in the day.
We are still working on my dd purple room but dh has to repair something at the rentals so we will not be able to sand the floors today as we had planned but never fear they will be sanded shortly so I can put this room together...I am tired of the mess.
A few post back we talked about fireflies and I had no idea that some of you do not have them nor had ever seen them in person. Each evening as I walk I think of you often and wish I could describe these little wonderful lit up bugs. I have noticed that they do not start blinking until dusk but then only for an hour or so and then the spectacular show  is over. They fly so slowly and blink so randomly  that  it truly is like sparkling little Christmas lights. I have enjoyed them so much each evening and I will miss them once the weather gets cooler.
I have been trying to catch up on the never ending of laundry, cleaning and such...not fun but necessary. It was my dd birthday on the 20th and she had a few friends over...she turned 17 and could not stop smiling!! she is the baby so I was sad but I might as well get use it....things never stay the same!
I have been visiting and some of you are already working on fall and Halloween crafts and stitcheries...it is just so hot here I do not know if I can even think about it just yet but I do love the cool breezes and frosty mornings....I am dreaming...It is 92 and humid...Ohio weather...why do I live here???

Lazy Days of Summer ...not...beginning the make-over

I am sorry that I can not find the before pictures. I am sure that we took pictures of my dd room the last time, which would have been in 2006. But many of you said you would like to see what we are up to so here is the beginning of the make-over. The walls are a very dark purple and the molding at the top is a light gray (sterling). We just installed the chair rail two nights ago and it is sterling also. The paint is a satin finish but with the flash it looks pretty shiny..really it isn't. You can also see the yucky carpeting. I am not sure who would have chosen ait but  we are getting rid of it!
This is what we found under the carpet. This is the way it was done with old houses. They would refinish the edges and not the center. Then there would be a large area rug in the middle. But truly, it would not be that much more work to just stain and varnish all if it but since they didn't we will be renting the sander.
I am hoping that we can sand the floor tomorrow evening (depending on dh schedule of course).
I am excited about having the room start to take a little shape. We did hang the new light but I forgot to take a picture of it. Again, she is decorating with purple, gray, silver and white. We have been painting the furniture and looking for the new bedding. I do love the chair rail in this room it gives it a little character. My mother is coming to see what we have done...wonder what she will think?
I have been doing a little stitching on my CaHRH and will share some pictures tomorrow.  (PS.. lights are on clearance at Lowes!)

A start on block 6 of CaHRH and two finishes

I have started block 6 on CaHRH and it seems to be going quite quickly and I really need to step it up if I am going to hang this one by Thanksgiving. It has bee so hot here that it feels like I am trapped in the house so after I get my normal stuff done I have been picking up the thread and needle.
The other two finishes I am going to make into bowl fillers. My dd stitched the first snowman and I did the other. I will have to tell you the names next time....
My middle daughter and I have been working on a make over in her bedroom. She saw a room on HGTV and thought she just had to change hers to purple....dark purple. So I have been painting her furniture and she has been trimming the ceiling and above the baseboards. Once we have it painted we are going to pull up the carpeting and go with the hard wood floors. Now this is really my daughters project and I am just helping but I am ready to finish it. My dd loves to work on it in a slow pace and I am project oriented...it could have been done. Anyone out there know what I mean about working with your teen??? LOL Anyways, We are buying new light fixtures and Lowes is having great clearance sales so tonight we are off to see if we can find the perfect lights for her room....wish us luck with that. Our theme is purple and silver....in a chic way...
I will keep you updated on our progress. Blessings.

New wool kitchen rug

This is my new rug for under the kitchen table...i just love it. It is wool with many muted colors. I know in the picture it looks bright but really it isnt....It has the button hole stitch around all the appliqued pieces and to top it off it is has a lovely scent of cloves!! My accent wall in the kitchen is that red color (more cranberry than it looks) and I am thinking of maybe painting it a sage green after the holidays!!
I found this rug at a furniture in Delaware Ohio....the ladies said it was 50% off so that made it mine! the rug is 5 by 8 so it is perfect when my table is this size. With the two of the girls in college we dont need the table quite so large.
It has been very hot and I have been putting in time at the rentals so not more for today...thanks for stopping by...be blessed.

Bathroom Make-over...Paris!

Good Morning. It is so hot today so I am going to enjoy the A/C and read blogs and just dream of autumn. I did want to share a few more make-over pictures. This is the bathroom that is just off the bonus room. These two room are seperated from our house and attached to the garage. It makes for a nice place to escape and create!!!
If you have looked back at the pictures of my home then you know that this space is not decorated like the rest of my spaces so the bathroom is following this change too. I have fallen if love with all the decorations of Paris so I decided to dedicate my bathroom to that...Paris...The bathroom was already white and had black and white tile on the floor so I decided to stick with that color theme and make it a classic space...hope you love it as much as I do. Honestly, it is difficult to get good pictures because it is small but you can get the flavor of the room. Enjoy.

More Make-over pics....

This is a continuation of the last make-over pictures. It is so difficult to get pictures to look like the room but they are close. I also redecorated the bathroom that is attached to this room so I will show pictures of that room next time. Again let me say, I don't think anything is new...most of it was collected and stored just waiting to be used...enjoy... Blessings

Almost lIke Christmas in July...

While I was taking the dog out tonight I saw such an amazing sight...fireflies...sparkling...brilliant...beautiful.  It dawned on me that it was like celebrating  Christmas with all the sparkling lights but this time of year the sparkling lights are free. Nature has blessed us with such a spectacular view of these lights.
I took this picture off the internet but my view of this was about the same...I wonder if it had to do with all the rain we have had.  Anyways, hope you are having a wonderful 4th of July.
 Blessings to each of you.

Make over pictures..

This is the bedroom that my dd used to be in before she moved to college. Some of you may remember the black and white and green. Well, now that she has moved to her own place I decided that the black and white are history...so the beginning pictures are of the transformation. I had many more of the furniture and other walls but for some reason they are blurry so I will retake those tomorrow in the daylight but at least you can get a little look.
I also made over the bathroom and I wanted to share those pictures but I was afraid it was getting to long. The green in the make over is not as green as the pictures so but with or without the flash this is the best I could do...must be the camera.
This room is actually built onto the side of the garage and I am now going to use it as my get-away room...noise free and a place to create...I am very excited about that. I will post more after I get the next pictures taken. Hope you enjoyed this little trip to my home. Blessings.
