Small Taste of Spring

Hello Dear Friends,
I have not forgotten about all of you. I have been visiting you and enjoying all the wonderful words of wisdom and beautiful diy blogs. There is so much to tell you but I will save that for another day. I wanted to share this little spring wreath that I made a few days ago. I picked up some green, glittery and shaggy yarn and put together a  little bit of spring. I just wrapped the yarn around a straw wreath.

Cut a few daisies off their stems and stuck them on with large pins  until I decide if that is where I want them. Eventually I will hot glue them into place and  then put this on my front door. Simple, easy and cheap. I am making another wreath with different yarn and will post it soon. Hope you enjoyed this little taste of spring.

Update on the Bathroom!

Dear Friends, A few days ago I showed you this By The Sea sign I was working on and today I wanted to update so you could see the rest of the decorations. I found me shells and a few other things and  finished off the decorating!

I found this glass jar and I love the way it looks with the sand and shells!

Another plate so I decided to put it to some use!
I am happy with the way this turned out also...I was afraid I needed more color but I guess not.

And of course the bathroom display that stays just changes so here it is by the sea!

Mantle Redecorated!

Hello Dear Friends,
I decided to work on my mantle this morning and I wasn't going to put anything wintery on it until I came across this picture that I purchased a while back. I love this print and the smoke coming out of the chimney makes me feel snuggly!
I decided not to put candles in the holders because it made it too tall.. BTY you can see the pictures better if you click on it and then look at them in the new window.

I did leave up the star wreath that I made a while back and I brought in a lot of birds. The white branches I love so they are staying too. Of course the candles do light up but it didn't show well in the pictures.

I purchased the corks at Walmart in October and I have used them since...like they way they fill things in.

I am working on decorating the bathroom but I go bored with it so now I feel better but not decorating the bathroom until tomorrow. I have a craft that I want to start!

BY THE SEA

Hello Dear Friends,
Today after church I was going to relax but I had a project on my mind and I decided to just relax by crafting! I have a wonderful large frame that I really did not want to put away but it said Winter Wonderland and I needed to come up with something else for the next season.
Here is what I came up with, By The Sea...and no we are nowhere near the sea but my Mom used to be in Florida every winter and I would decorate my bathroom just to be a little near to her. Well, now that she is gone I have decided to continue decorating with shells and things as a little way of remembering her. This is how it turned out.

This is my beautiful winter sign that I adore but I only wanted to cover it not ruin it.

I took a piece of backer board and but it to fit on top of the board.
Covered it with scrap book paper to match my other things in the bathroom.

I distressed a few tags so they didn't look too new.

And then I got to work putting it all together.

I found this roll of pom poms at TJ Maxx...love.

a closer look

I like the way it turned out. I am not sure I love it but remember when winter hits I will have my old sign back. What do you think?
When I finish decorating the rest of the bathroom I will share what it looks like with all of it put together! Lots of shells for Ohio!
I do have to admit I kinda miss my little reindeer but Christmas isn't that far away is it???

Project Perfect!

Dear Friends,
A while back when my dd was moving to her new place she told me she needed one of my bookcases. I did not mind that she needed one but I did not like that this old thing had so many cut out heart and her house was just too cute to put this dumb thing in her living room. So I got out my trusty tools, scissors, a dictionary and mod pog.
I started ripping and gluing and covering all those hearts right up.

It actually took much longer than I thought!

But it was looking so cute that I just couldn't stop. I did take it about 2 days to dry because I put a top coat on it so that none of the books would rip the paper loose.

She took it home and wrapped her books in brown paper.
I think she might become a crafter!

A New Beauty!

Hello Dear Friends,
I am finally feeling a little better so I decided to start a new project. I am not sure if you remember the yellow/gold cabinet I had decorated for Christmas. It was so cute then but I am tired of looking at the gold every time in enter the back porch so since we had a little sunshine the porch was warm enough for me to break open the paint. I love the way it turned out...and before you ask...yes this will be on our sale when we have our grand opening!

This was the way it looked like since I put it on the porch.

Then while I had the paint brush in my hand I opened all my test paint from when I painted the living room and dumped them together so I could paint another stand I had on the porch. I love the way it turned out too.
Both are still wet so I can't decorate them until tomorrow but I bet they will be dazzling when they are dry!

More Exciting News

Dear Friends, I have been having the best time! Well, I have no voice and I am coughing...but before that I was delighted. You see I have not shared with you my wonderful news. I am opening a business called The Vyntage Barn. It is the work of my sister my brother, myself and our families. We have wonderful cousins who are joining in the fun as well. We are going to have a wide selection of homemade and vintage items. The pictures are from a show we did last weekend that announced our new shop. It was a huge success but more importantly than anything else...we had fun being together.

I know my pictures are not the greatest and I did take some with my actual camera so maybe when I find the camera I can show it better but this is just a little look at some of our items but there is so much more. We have jewelry and furniture and lots of great finds!
My Brother made the fireplace, this is the one I was painting last week and the wreath we made all winter long and well there is just a lot of items.

And if you look closely you will see a picture of my Mom on the fireplace. She would have had the time of her life at this show. She would have loved the shop so we will be taking her with us on all our ventures..in our hearts always.
We do not actually open until this fall but I wanted to share my excitement with all my dear friends and you can follow along as we put it all together!

Painting Again!

Dear Friends,
I have been painting again but there is even more to tell. I have so much to tell you but let me just begin with this wonderful cabinet I bought. I knew when I found it that it was such a cute cabinet but that it needed some work. I put some things inside and still I knew it wasn't right. The cabinet was sitting in my shed so I knew it I could open the paint and get started. Two days last week we were suppose to have warmer weather and I took that as my chance to paint it and let it dry before the cold set back in...so I mixed some small containers of gray paint that I had on hand and came up with the inside paint. The outside of the cabinet is Woodland Bedroom White from Valspar.
So this is what it looked like before I started.

I mixed the paint and got started..

I know the picture isn't very good but my hands had paint on them.

Here it is drying but with the lighting it is difficult to tell that the outside is white but I do have another picture that shows it better.
Here she is in better light and decorated. There is really more to show but I want to get her moved into my home and then I will show the details. I am more than happy with the way it turned out. And I will share much more as the week continues.
On a side note, I think I caught a cold when I spent two days painting in the shed so I now have no voice a stuffy nose and not feeling so well...but it was worth it!! lol Thanks for joining me on this journey! Something I forgot to mention that I have now started no spend February and I will let you know how I am doing. So far, so good.  But remember I still buy necessary groceries!
