The last two days I have been priming and painting furniture. I actually think I am just burning off nerves as the wedding is so fast approaching. Since we are at a stand still with all the planning I starting working on some china cabinets. I forgot to take pictures of them finished but I will give you a look at the before. The wood was not too good looking but I love the little drawers.
And here is a close up as the paint was drying. I love the way it turned out but I will post better pictures of it when I get back outside. I also finished another one and primer on the third so far. I will be glad to have a few more pieces finished since I sold one of our largest pieces and I have a big hole right now!
I have some wedding shopping to do tomorrow and a fitting on Saturday and then I am hoping all the details are finished until the week of the wedding.
Well, our Mother's Day Opening event is over but I thought I would share a few pictures! The weather has been pretty cool so I didn't plant my annuals but the rest of the flower garden looked pretty good.
My hubby helped hang our garland, it made the building looks so festive.
The sale was our second highest in sales jut next to last Christmas. We are so blessed that all our customers wait for us to open and support what we are doing.
I had planted many containers that could be given as gifts but we had many other gift items as well.
The buildings were completely full of home decor an gifts. We sold all 81 cupcakes the first day of the sale. We had customers the second day that were so disappointed and I felt terrible but I honestly never dreamed we would sell all of them in one day.
I am so very thankful for my little business. I have met so many wonderful friends and they are all so cheerful and happy to be with us. Much of what you are seeing is already gone but I am working daily to get the building put back together. I am truly blessed.
Since my Mom passed away I have barely decorated my porch. I have neglected it or placed just a few little things out there that I didn't need to change. I wonder if the neighbors have noticed.
Every morning I would sit on the porch swing and drink my coffee and chat with Mom on the phone. Half of the year she would be about 15 miles from me and the other half, she would be in Florida. We would talk about the girls, about gardening or about our plans for the day. In the winter I would put on my coat and gloves and swing a little while we laughed about me freezing. Many days she would spend with me but we still chatted everyday.
I no longer sit on the swing nor do I decorate it much. It makes me sad. Today I placed some summer items out there and that will be about it till fall. This year I will not switch out to Red, white and blue. I may switch the flowers if they die but I don't enjoy the swing. Last year I almost had my hubby take the swing down but my daughter enjoys the swing some days so it will remain for now.
Mother's Day is a hard day. It makes me smile and it makes me cry. I saw cardinal pairs the last few days and I believe it is a gentle reminder that Mom and Dad are safe and happy in their new home in Heaven. It gives me some comfort. For now, I will remember her kind, loving heart and I will try my best to be more like her and to love my kids unconditionally just like she did me. Missing you, Mom. Love your Mom, Hug her, talk to her...send her flowers for no reason....don't take her for granted...she will be gone one day. Until we meet again!
Even though it has been pretty cool and rainy I think most of the outside hanging baskets are ready for our opening day. I have planted so many that I am tired of seeing them.
This one turned into a show-stopper. I am hoping it is gone the first day!
I almost kept this one for myself but I am hoping it becomes a present for a mom.
We have been so busy, it is good and exciting. Besides the shop we are also working on all the wedding plans. The shower was last weekend and it was so much fun. We had a large crowd of just the people who love us, who could ask for more than that?
We have been working so hard trying to get the new room completed before opening day and we now we are finally done. My dh built this beautiful fireplace to keep the room warm and of course for me to decorate!!
This is where it started as he was putting the whole thing together..
The first coat of paint. I love the way it was turning out.
Once the fireplace was added it really took on a life of it's own.
It didn't take long for the room to fill up. It is so cosy. But I can't get to use to it, some of the furniture is already sold and after Mother's Day more of the other things will be gone...then we start over.
