It is October 1st and the 31 Days of Whimsy are here. I am so excited to be focused on something different and new well...kinda new. The sweater pumpkins have been such a big success that I wanted to share them before we get too late into the season . This is my bowl of pumpkins that sit new the entrance to my kitchen door for all too see. But rest assured there are more throughout my home too!
They are so easy to make and fun to decorate with...here is how they are made.
I took a sweater from the Goodwill and cut off the sleeve. You will need a ball of twine or rope or yarn..just something to tie it with. You will need to turn the sweater sleeve inside out to start.
Now cut the rope so that it sticks out on both ends and you have enough to tie up the pumpkins on each side. You will need to tie the small end of the sweater with a piece of rope so the ends don't pull through. Then when you turn the sleeve inside out (now the sweater is the right direction) the ends will be on the inside of the pumpkin.
Stuff the inside of the pumpkin with stuffing and at this point you are ready to bring the rope up on each side of the pumpkin just leaving a gap between strands. When you have rope all the way around the pumpkin so it looks like veins then you are ready to tie the top shut with yet another piece of rope.
Now at this point you can stop or.....
You can wind the top around the rest of the sweater. I like mine to be WHIMSICAL!!!! There are other places one web you can find tutorials on these also and if you look back at my original blog I did not where I found the tutorial that I used too.I believe it was Deb Kennedy at
