Dear Friends, This is just one of the many projects we have been working on. This stone wall is so beautiful but it is a lot of work when you have a cave-in, which we have almost every winter. So each spring we stack and re-stack to make it new again.
This is where we started at the beginning of spring and I was discouraged. I knew it could be fixed but the stones are so large and heavy that I wasn't sure I could do it myself. Then, a knight in shining armor said he would take on this job. I was delighted. He worked yesterday and today and he had done an amazing job. I can't tell you how happy we are!!!
And, our baby girl is happy too! He is her best friend and boy friend...what a blessing he is! He started way down there at the road and worked he way up!!! He did an amazing joy without a single complaint! I think we will keep him!
Just wanted you to see what I have been working on...fun piece. I distressed it when I was done. dh wasn't a fan of distressing but I think it is perfect. I have not picked up the knobs or I might even paint the original ones. I decided on white with a glaze on top, I will wax it next week.
Well Friends, I am so excited to tell you that the crown molding is complete. The big projects are done. I am now going to put the room together, fix the lights, touch up the paint and finally move all the furniture into place. The osb turned out just fine. I think the bonding really made a difference. I wish you could see the little sparkles in the paint.
This is my dh putting the first piece into place. He is a gem, after working 15 hours days for 2 weeks, he came home and hung the molding for me.
I had been putting primer on a few pieces of furniture but I stopped in a flash to help him. It seems like I am finally making progress and it feels so wonderful. I had a small meltdown when I went to get a piece of molding and thought I would give Mom a quick call to tell her to come and see what we were doing...and in a instant remembered she wasn't there....thank goodness dh is compassionate. We took a minute to let me cry and the returned to our work....such tough days sometimes.
Here are the two pieces I am working on...which color are you thinking?
So many choices. I will decided tomorrow but I will check back to see if you have any opinions!!
Well, I promise I have not been ignoring you. I have been incredibly busy. With spring there are so many new chores to be done. My Memorial garden is beginning to bloom and I just have to smile when I walk out the back door. Here is another picture and I will continue to share as it continues to bloom.
One of the things that seems to continue to take most of my time is the painting and priming I have been finishing in my shed. I put three coats of bonding primer on the walls and then two coats of paint. Then I primed and painted the ceiling and last the trim. Here is what is happening today. I finally finished all the painting today and my dh and I made a trip to Lowes to buy the crown molding. After a lot of looking and talking we finally loaded it into the suv and brought it home. I am hoping that we finally this project this weekend and then I will share all the pictures so you can see. I have spent many long hours the last few days working to get this project moved along.
This is just the primer. I did put two coats of paint on it to finish it up.
While I was taking a break I was looking at the outside of the building and I thought I was tired of the red trim so I put a coat of primer on it too. I think I got side-tracked!
And to leave on a lighter note...one more picture of the garden. More to come. Exciting times!!!!!
My lilacs were no longer looking very well so I snipped off a few of the blooms from my snowball bush. They are so beautiful! I love having fresh flowers in our home!
I also wanted to share the side of my shed. My Mom planted every one of these plants and she told me they would fill in and be beautiful. She was more than right and I look at them and know how much she loved us and remember all the time she shared with us! There is one rogue columbine but it was blooming and I just could not pull it so it is blooming and shining bright!
I traveled to my daughters home and helped her plant under the tree and to the left you can see we planted beside the house also! But it was 87 degrees so we drank some lemonade and then we had the neighbor boy mow the yard...lol we had a great time picking everything out!
I found the this beautiful pink flower and I placed it on my Mom's memorial garden. I think she would have loved the garden we have planted for her! I miss her...more than anything.
Dear Friends, Today I am taking a break from painting and priming in my shed. I now have the walls primed with three coats of bonding and two coats of paint...done. I even add the glitter to the paint but I must admit that was quite disappointing. I added two packets of glitter even though they recommend only one. I wanted the glitter to show but alas it is very faint, not at all what I wanted. I am almost done with ceiling but I just could not face spending another afternoon with a paint roller in my hand so instead I changed things up a little in the living room and then I am going to start a craft. This is what has been hanging in the living room since after Christmas. I figure that is long enough.
I found this print and thought it would be a nice change so here it is...the lighting is so bright today but I guess you get the idea. I did plant some of my flowers today and gave them a nice drink and next week I will have to purchase the rest of them.
I know that it looks crooked but honestly it is just the camera angle..lol at least I hope it is!
Just a quick update. I had the primer tinted so this gives you a little peek at what I am doing. The walls are done with the primer and the ceiling is 3/4 done but honestly I was just too tired to finish it today. I drove to Van Wert to spend some time with my sister for her birthday so I didn't start painting until maybe 4. The wood work still needs primed and then finally I will start the paint...I can't wait to get those walls painted. I have furniture that needs to be moved into the building and until the painting is completed I just can't.
Tomorrow I have a lunch date and then....I will finish the priming...I will finish the priming!
Dear Friends, I have been so busy that I have neglected my little blog. I will have to tell you that there is so much drama that is whirling around me but I am preferring to set my sites on some nice hard work. I am once again painting, painting and painting!! Here is the inside of my shed and I am priming the walls and trim. I am preparing for a nice paint job to be finished so very soon. But the weather has not be cooperating with me. It has been so cold that I have not been able to to work in the shed the last few days because we have not installed the furnace yet and who would have believed that it would be so cold this late in the year??
I am using Valspar Bonding to help smooth the walls out and it is doing a very nice job. I love using their paint and primers and I have purchased some of their glaze but I have not tried it yet.
I have not primed the trim just yet. I wanted to complete the walls before I started the trim. Hubby is going to put up molding so I don't have to be too careful while I am painting. I used all 2 1/2 gallons but ran out before I was finished so back to Lowes I went. Since then it has been to cold to finish but you can see in the previous posts that I am moving forward by purchasing furniture while I am waiting! So for now...which project do I start...let me see..so many to choose from!
Friends, I wanted to share a few pictures of Mom for Mother's day. I can't think of a better way to pay tribute to her than show a few pictures and share a few stories. Mom married her High School sweetheart. They were married for 60 years before they passed away. She had a heart for her family and for making a house a home. My Mother always put others before herself, more concerned for their well-being. She put love into everything she did..without her our hearts will never be the same.
This is their wedding picture. My Mom had on a soft pink suit, oh how beautiful she is in this picture.
I smile when I see Mom all dressed up. She always dressed up when she was going away and she loved shoes...even her casual shoes were awesome. This is a perfect example of that!
And just for fun...Mom and two of the girls when we visited her in Florida. We were so happy that it was warm because we were having a blizzard in Ohio but Mom was freezing! We could not stop laughing. She was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and if you look close, the girls had on their swim suits...Oh what fun we had on that visit!! We will miss you everyday until we meet again! Our hearts are with you always!
I have spent the morning getting everything ready for Mother's Day. I have swept, dusted, all the laundry, moped, trash, put all the laundry away, changed the sheets on the bed and put the craft stuff away. I think all I have to do is grocery shop and I am done.
Mother's day is such a sad day without my Mom...oh how I miss her but we have an adventure planned for Saturday and a full house on Sunday so I am going to enjoy being with the ones I love.
My sister and sil and a few others are spending the day having some fun on Saturday so I wanted to be done today...I think I have almost completed my jobs!
Do you just love the cake I have made as my centerpiece of the table?? haha it's a sponge...but it does look so wonderful..I should burn a cake candle for the smell...well, I hope you are having a wonderful day and I will be back to share on Sunday!
Dear Friends, I wanted to show you the beauties that I purchased this week. It does have a few scratches but nothing that can't be worked on. I think she is fabulous and I can't wait to prep her for a make over!
This is the other piece I purchased. This is the picture on the internet but I could see that she was a beauty! I am thinking a light gray or white, but you know I have a problem seeing green...lol and green..and green.
And just for fun I thought I would show you a charm I made last week. Pink and Paris, now what could be better than that?
Hello Dear Friends,.
I thought I would share my walk with you. This is from yesterday and I was enjoying a cool breeze and the warm sunshine. There was a quietness in the air that made me send prayers of thanksgiving. I am so very thankful for all the blessings that I have been given. My family is such a joy. Each of my children so different but with good, kind hearts. A hubby who is kind and gentle and such a hard worker. And I sent prayers of thanksgiving for each of them.
Our tree out front was showing it's glory and I just had to share a picture and I wish I could share the smell of those wonderful blossoms, it was magnificent! I have been enjoying it each day as I walk by and I smile at the beauty of the spring.
On Saturday my sister and my daughter and I went to a sale and I found this beautiful silver sugar bowl and I knew I could not pass it up.
I wanted to show you the size so I put out another piece that I own just for that purpose. Isn't she lovely?
I must tell you dear friends, I have been so busy working on so many projects and so much I want to share but the time is not right just yet. But I can tell you, I do not like to paint and for the last two weeks I have had a brush in my hand too often. Tomorrow I am painting again, but I will take a few pictures and share them this time.
